The Cochran Shoals loop offers views of the Chattahoochee River between the trees, while the wooded trails frequently cross creeks and traverse the rim of small valleys. The beauty of Cochran Shoals is not just its location along the Chattahoochee River, but the array of trail systems that are exceptional for trail running, hiking or mountain biking. Bob Callan Trail is paved the entire way and is very scenic, crossing over the Chattahoochee River via bridges is highly recommended for anyone looking to have a nice run, walk, or biking session outdoors! Cochran Shoals trail follows the western bank of the Chattahoochee River for nearly two miles. Bob Callan Trail is on Chattahoochee River, Rottenwood Creek, and Long Island Creek in Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, GA. They are Dog-Friendly trails, and perfect for pedestrians, hikers, and cyclists. The trails are excellent connections for residents and visitors to explore and interact with Cumberland’s attractions and rich natural assets. Being a multi-use trail, Akers Mill Trail connects the Bob Callan Trailhead with the National Park Service at the Chattahoochee River’s Cochran Shoals Recreation Area. The south is a glorified sidewalk that connects the Bob Callan to Akers Mill shopping center, Cumberland Mall, etc. The popular 3.1 mile Cochran Shoals Trail runs along the west bank of the Chattahoochee River within the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Center.As a connection to the trails along the Chattahoochee, Akers Mill Trail is a nice side street trail. There are entrances from Cobb Parkway and Akers Mill road. ![]() The 6.4 mile West Palisades Trail gives visitors a chance to explore part of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. The Battery Atlanta Walking Trail is a mile-and-a-half loop around the attractions at the Battery, including the shops and restaurants, and Truist Park, home stadium of the Atlanta Braves. The eastern portion provides access to the Chattahoochee National Recreation Center trailhead at Paces Mill. The western part of the trail goes by Cumberland Mall, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center and the Galleria Convention Center. ![]() The 4-mile Akers Mill Trail is split into two sections by the Rottenwood Creek Trail. The trailhead for the Bob Callan Trail is at Interstate North Parkway and Cumberland Boulevard, and the trail connects the Cumberland area with the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. The 4-mile Bob Callan Trail is part of the Rottenwood Creek Trail, which is in turn one of the priority projects on Cobb County’s Greenways and Trails Master Plan.
